Relevant Work Experience

index.png

• June 2019 - current•

This summer I worked as an IT intern in Sincerely Hers' Marketing Department. Since their primary storefront is Amazon, my project involved working with Amazon's AWS APIs to request and retrieve various marketing reports. I then designed and implemented a system that would write the report data to a PostgreSQL database and maintain that data, whether through replacing or upserting.

• September 2017-December 2018•

During the school year as part of work study, I worked as a research assistant in the DePauw University and Indiana United Methodist Archives. My first project involved updating church records to include their location, and my second project included adding record volumes to the online database. My third project has been adding records belonging to Charles A. Beard, famous historian and DePauw alum, to the archives' records.

• Summer of 2018, January 2019 •

I participated in the 2018 ProHealth Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) at Indiana University. Our research team worked to develop an iOS app that helps capture the entire parenting experience through collecting and compiling photos, texts, video recordings, etc. Click here to see our blog from this summer! I then returned to the lab over my Winter Term to begin building the backend of the application using the MEAN stack.

• February-December 2018•

During the school year as part of work study, I worked in DePauw's Academic Resource Center as a tutor for Intro to CS, Data Structures, and Discrete Math twice a week. My hours were walk-in hours, so I had to be prepared to help a range of students in one night.

• Summer of 2017 •

I worked as a Multimedia Storyteller for Pine Creek, which entailed taking pictures of the campers, assembling an end-of-the-week video, and maintaining a daily blog of the campers' activities.

Extracurriculars

• Fall 2016 - current •

Every two weeks our group will put on a sort of youth group, which we call "Club," for area middle schoolers. We'll plan an hour or so worth of games as well as a lesson, or "talk," and discussion questions afterwards. We'll also put on a couple of events for the kids each semester; an all-time favorite is the all-night lock-in. I served as president from Fall 2017 - Fall of 2018, meaning I would lead our weekly lunch meetings, attend Student Government meetings, and be responsible for handling some funds.

As a member of WiCS, I attend monthly meetings. One month I presented on what it's like to work as part of an REU along with some other REU participants. It was through prompting from this group that I was inspired to apply for the Grace Hopper Scholar program, and I was selected and got to attend the 2018 conference.

• Fall 2016 - current •

After being a Girl Scout for 12 years and earning the Gold Award, I was anxious to continue serving in some manner. I found APO, a service fraternity which does a large variety of service projects, to fill the hole. I served as VP of Service Spring 2018 - Fall 2018, meaning I would plan fortnightly service chapters and nearly all other service events, including a section-wide retreat and service day at Pine Creek Camp. I also served as voting delegate to the 2018 National Convention.
